  • 3rd Gen Intel® Core™ processors

Desktop computers and laptops created for the family are not exactly rare, but they usually only offer sufficient power for web browsing along with a spot of video. What if you’ll need more junk within the trunk though?

The Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition takes the present 15R laptop as well as supercharges it, adding the most recent Intel Ivy Link processor, 8GB of MEMORY, a Full HD screen along with a Blu-ray player.

That configuration — the very best model — will set you back the fairly affordable price of £930. As with the majority of Dell’s products, you can choose a variety of configurations depending how deep your wallets are. The 15R begins at £700, for which you will get a Core i5 processor chip and 6GB ofh RAM but you will be deprived the HIGH DEFINITION screen and Blu-ray generate.

Design and quality

At 378mm wide, it’s fairly chunky for any 15-inch machine and its 34mm height is certainly on the much more corpulent side. It’s fatter perhaps than some 17-inch gaming machines such as the Toshiba Qosmio X870. With a bodyweight of around two. 7kg, I wouldn’t suggest you carried this around for too much time.
Keyboard and trackpad
If you’ve spent enough time with Dell’s laptop computers before, the keyboard is going to be instantly familiar. It uses exactly the same rounded, isolated keys available on many of its models such as the XPS 14Z. They’re well spaced and also have a pleasing medium firmness for them, resulting in an appropriate typing experience.
Better still, it packs a complete HD resolution making it perfect for media use. Most 15-inch laptops often offer a lesser 1, 600×900-pixel display as well as 1, 366×768 pixels — the actual resolution offered on the lower-end model — therefore it is great to view Dell providing 1080p on the display of this particular size.
The processor being used is from Intel’s line well known as Ivy Bridge, which promises enhanced built-in graphics overall performance with lower energy usage over its Sandy Bridge predecessors. I have already met Ivy Bridge chips in machines such as the Toshiba L875-10G as well as was very impressed with the performance, so I had high hopes for that 15R.

End User Review
The Dell Inspiron 15R Special and Unique Edition certainly is not the slimmest or even lightest 15-inch laptop you can buy. It is packed to the gills with effective components though, making it suitable to a family with higher technical demands than fundamental web browsing. The Full HIGH DEFINITION screen and Blu-ray drive also make it ideal for film lovers.
